                                  Raising lambs

Raising lambs for the fair is a difficult and exciting experience. First, you have to earn your lamb's trust. Second, focus on their health and weight. Third, build up their muscles. And forth, get them ready for the fair!

Earning your lamb’s trust is tricky business. Sheep are very skittish animals and probably don't want anything to do with you for a while. Just try to get them to eat out of your hand and spend a lot of time sitting in their pen and let them approach you. After a while they’ll get curious. Just don’t make any sudden movements.

Focusing on your lamb’s health is very important. You need to make sure your lamb is caught up on all of its vaccinations and make sure that it has been dewormed. If your lamb happens to get sick, contact your local veterinarian. Do not give your lamb medicine without proper consultation.

Keeping your lambs weight in a good area is also very important. You’ll need to check their weight a couple times while you're raising them. This Is important to determine how much food you should be giving them. If their weight is getting too high, lower their feed. If their weight is too low, give them more.

Making sure your lamb has a good muscular body is difficult. You don’t want  your lamb to look like a bodybuilder, but you also don’t want them to have no muscle at all. You should walk your lambs about twice a day so they can build up muscle. Building ramps so that your lamb has to stand on them to get up to their feed is a great way to build front leg muscle.

In conclusion, I really enjoy raising and showing lambs for the fair. It helps build responsibility and you get to stay at the fair for a couple days. I mean… who doesn't want a funnel cake every day?
