Thanksgiving in Germany
Thanksgiving in Germany
Did you know that in Germany they eat pickled pumpkins? Thanksgiving in Germany is a lot like our thanksgiving in america. But they have a lot of other traditions too.
The typical German thanksgiving celebration is usually an agricultural harvest time observance with church services, a parade, music, and a country fair. In larger cities this festival is sponsored by Protestant and Catholic churches. They also have the tradition of observing the harvest, and each year the country holds a big festival, an autumn celebration where people give thanks to God for the harvest and relax after months of hard work.
They eat a lot of different foods too. Including, Baked Camembert with Red Currant Sauce, Pumpkin Crostini, Zesty Prosciutto-Sauerkraut Rolls, Holiday Strudel with Mustard Sauce, and Sweet and sour pickled pumpkin. These are just the appetizers!
As you can see, Thanksgiving in Germany is very similar to Thanksgiving in the United states. I hope you liked learning about it.
